Memory of the World news
12 August 2014
At the recent Asia Pacific Regional Committee for the Memory of the World Programme Meeting a record number of inscriptions were added to the Asia Pacific Memory of the World register. PARBICA is very pleased to note that 5 of the inscriptions were from Pacific countries. The Pacific inscriptions were Queensland Indentured Labour Records 1863- 1908 (Australia), The Proclamation (E Tuatua Akakie) (Cook Islands), Polynesian Immigrants records 1876-1914 (Fiji), Western Pacific Archives (New Zealand), Archives of German-Samoa Administration (Samoa). Congratulations to all these countries on their success.
Inscription recognises the importance of Pacific documentary heritage and the need to preserve and provide access to that documentary heritage.
