New modules for PARBICA's Recordkeeping for Good Governance Toolkit
11 Jan 2017
The Programme Commission of the International Council on Archives (ICA) is funding the development of four new modules in PARBICA's Recordkeeping for Good Governance Toolkit.
The new modules in disaster preparedness will aim to assist archival institutions in the Pacific region to protect the archives entrusted to them, and to train records creators to protect current business records. The new modules will include guidance on: identifying vital records; disaster planning; disaster response; and disaster recovery.
In 2017, PARBICA and the National Archives of Australia will collaborate with Pacific island archives, the ICA Expert Group on Emergency Management and Disaster Preparedness and non-profit organisation Island Culture Archival Support to develop the modules.
Consultation on the modules will take place at the PARBICA Conference in 2017, with the modules launched at the ICA Conference in 2018.
The Toolkit, developed by PARBICA, is used by archives around the world as a 'one-stop shop' for training in archival practice and records management. You can access the Toolkit here.
