Update from the Bureau – July 2014
18 August 2014
The Bureau met by teleconference on 1 July 2014.
Following on from the previous meeting, the Bureau has finished detailed action plans for all four functional areas of the 2013-2015 business plan.
Update from the PARBICA Treasury
The Bureau confirmed two new memberships.
The Treasury has been working hard to gather and edit articles for the first annual edition of Panorama. This is currently with the designers and will be posted out once printing is completed. In the meantime, please keep engaging with the PARBICA news web page, Facebook page and listserve.
The Bureau also approved a proposal to change the fee structure for Category B members. Category B membership of PARBICA is no longer a flat fee, but is now a system of dues according to gross income of the association. This aligns with ICA's practice. Details can be found on our membership web page.
PARBICA contributions to conferences in 2014
Bureau members will be presenting at a number of upcoming conferences:
International Council on Archives annual conference, 11-15 October – Amela Silipa (President) and Helen Walker (Treasurer) will be presenting a paper about how PARBICA organises its work. They will also run a two hour PARBICA Good Recordkeeping for Good Governance Toolkit session.
At the joint Association for Records and Archives New Zealand and Australian Society of Archivists conference, 30 September-2 October – Talei Masters (Secretary General) will present a paper on behalf of PARBICA. It is good to see the National Archives of Fiji (Opeta Alefaio) and the Pacific Manuscripts Bureau (Kylie Moloney) also on the programme.
It is good to maintain PARBICA's profile in this way; sharing the good work of the branch with fellow archivists and records managers around the world.
PARBICA 16 in 2015
A brochure and request for expressions of interest in hosting PARBICA 16 was sent out to all members. Unfortunately, there were no expressions of interest received for hosting this conference. The Bureau is working hard to explore options for holding a conference in 2015. If you have any ideas on PARBICA 16, please contact PARBICA.Secretariat@dia.govt.nz
The next Bureau meeting will be held by teleconference on Tuesday 23 September 2014.
